On Boondocks they did an episode where instead of MLK actually dieing after being shot, he just stays in a coma for a few years. Martin then creates a black political party to rally people together in contemporary times. At the first speach he has it promoted by an urban promotions company that gives away tickets on the radio and invites all the usual suspects in the rap world.

Start something
It has recently come to my attention that not doing anything is the same as condoning it. For instance letting an inappropriate joke slide, or an offensive remark to go unchecked. If you see or hear something that is wrong you should cautiously do something about it. If you see or hear something you know is wrong, you should say that what you saw or heard was offensive and you want it to stop. In some cases you will find people to be apologetic and even regretful of their decision. It can be an embarrassing situation for them, but they will have learned a valuable lesson. In other cases you will be met with strong opposing bigotry (and you will find that in the world) but most moderate people will have to discover appropriate boundaries so it is important, no imperative, that if things offend you, let the people around you know it. Everyone has boundaries that they think are appropriate, and if you let things go unchecked then you repress your instincts to tell people your feelings. And let me tell you, repressing feelings is super unhealthy, please believe. Discussion is very healthy, and a lot of change comes from working out our differences without a billion dollar war.
In the UK racism is such a big problem with the police that they are now developing a test that tests how racist new cadets are before hiring them. After taking the test, "The programme then automatically calculates a "response-index" that indicates a level of racial bias."

Should be no surprise
If you live in Los Angeles and have ever been to Tajunga Valley this article will serve as no surprise to you. I have heard a lot of stories about that part of Los Angeles from non-white friends when I lived in LA. They would tell me they would hear of house parties over there but would be turned away because the color of their skin, or called racial slurs. People started fights with them because of their skin color. People shouting out of cars telling them to get lost. It is not to say that all Tajungans are racist, but let us face the world where people self segregate and do everything possible to keep it that way. If you make the decision to move there in this day and age and you are white chances are you made that decision because you want to only live near white people. At least you are certainly not making the decision to move to a diverse community. I say this with no offense to all Tajungans, just the plethora of bigots who live there. I don't know maybe there is more to the reason that people in Tajunga don't want a Home Depot there, but it sounds like the charges of racism are pretty credible to me.

1 out of 5
This is kind of messed up, because it just makes light of serious racism. I know its funny because it hits close to stereotypes, but my point is often when we accept these stereotypes and make light of them then they are just perpetuated. Chappelle could have joked about anything, but made fun of the guys voice and the classic black man in a korean bodega stereotype. I guess it is funny, but I wonder about jokes like these if they are healthy. The police cheap shot in the end wasn't racist, he could have stuck to that material and it would have been great. Watch it and you decide if this kind of joking is funny or unhealthy. Notice what the audience laughs at and doesn't laugh at

Some more of the same.
Here is the article about racism and anti semitism on college campuses. "Winbush and others, like Dr. Joe R. Feagin, the Ella C. McFadden Professor of Sociology at Texas A&M University, point to a recent rash of racial incidents, including racially offensive theme parties, as evidence that racism on campus is still alive and well."
Here is a piece from the LA times that poses the question,
"How have people who oppose illegal immigration allowed themselves to be painted as both anti-immigration and, more absurdly, "anti-immigrant?""
Here is another article from the LA Times about allegations of racist behavior of the LAPD. "The LAPD clearly has as part of its heritage a racial animus unbefitting police officers entrusted with defending the law and the Constitution, so such allegations are not mere fantasies."
Every day for the next few days I'm going to put up another part of several part series of Jordan Maxwell's called "Who Controls the World?" Here is part five.
Similar to this is a film of his called the "The Matrix of Power" If you like what you have seen so far, watch the last few parts of this series "Who Controls the World?" and then look up the " Matrix of Power." I think I've shown plenty of it here, so that is the last of it here on Epidermic.

Your either part of the solution or part of the problem
Race relations. "To delve into the thicket that is the question of race relations in America is always a dangerous undertaking. It’s a loaded topic that cuts to the core of who a person is and how he perceives he fits in American society - or doesn’t."
Race relations is beginning to be a topic of discussion in Canada. "There is this idea that racism is a U.S. problem. That it doesn't happen here. It does. We are just more polite about it," explains Darren Lund, an education professor at the University of Calgary."
This article is calling out an op-ed article from the LA Times, which they claim contradictory. "One of the problems with the way racism is discussed in this country is that saying that it's still a problem sounds reactionary, and saying that it isn't still a problem sounds naive. The Los Angeles Times has found a novel solution to this conundrum: Publish an op-ed that makes both claims at the same time, wrap it all up in a few meaningless platitudes, and call it a day."
This article is about a Jazz club in Oakland California which put out a "a 10th anniversary CD with no African American musicians." "Jazz is the great cultural achievement of America where blacks took a leading role as creators and practitioners, and where blacks and whites and eventually Asians, Latinos, and well, everyone, performed and listened in harmony (literally and figuratively). That era ended yesterday, thanks to the forward-thinking "progressives" of the San Francisco Bay Area. Race is now more important than music, according to authoritative local commentators and practitioners."
Here is the article from the SF Chronicle referenced in the above article. Despite the CD, "Williams said race and ethnicity are "things that I just never think about when I'm booking the club. It always comes out that we have a great mix. I'm very comfortable with what we've done.""

We must learn to live together as brothers ore perish together as fools.
Here Is some information about the history of christianity and its role in racism and slavery. This page gives quotes from the Bible and shows how the text have been interpreted to justify hate and racism. "Maybe that means that using the Bible isn't a valid defense of an idea? Could be..."
This is a piece from the BBC about child slavery in Haiti. I want make the point that in the US Cuban's are permitted to come into the US as political prisoners of Communism. Right next door in the country of Haiti, the poorest country in the western hemisphere, Haitians are literally prisoners to a nearly non existent lawless government. Haiti has been plagued with ruthless dictators and bands of gangs and some of the most serious poverty the world has seen. The one Democratically elected president they had was removed by the US military when a conflict between him and bands of guerilla armies arose. Rather than give military support to the president the US removed him and let Haiti pick up the pieces. I make this point because in general the US policy for dealing with Haiti is not to deal with Haiti. Haitians are sent back from the US upon arriving and Cubans are welcomed with open arms practically. Many claim this to be a racist decision of the United States government because haitians are black and cubans generally are not. Whle the conditions are not great in Cuba (especially for the once rich upper class in Cuba) by comparison to Haiti, Cuba is like a five star resort. Either the US wants to see Haiti fail or it has serious blinders on.
Every day for the next few days I'm going to put up another part of several part series of Jordan Maxwell's called "Who Controls the World?" Here is part three.

Human History becomes more and more a race between education and catastrophe.
Ultimate Fighting champion can't fight in Canada. He claims racism is the reason. I didn't know until recently how alive and kicking racism was in Canada until recently, but now that I have heard a few things I wouldn't be so surprised if his claims are true.
Speaking of Canada, I found this article about... well its about a lot of things, but "stop snitching" is the big part. I just wanted to pull this quote because this relates to my Rap vs Hip Hop blog a few days ago. Here is another journalist sighting a few mass marketed rappers from TV and radio and declaring them black culture. In a sense this writer is saying black people are violent, misogynistic, and sexually aggressive, and they are saying that because TV proves it to be true to them. "It's impolite to say so, but these pathologies are in a sense cultural. Just listen to the lyrics of 50 Cent, Cam'ron -- also known as "Killa Cam" -- or any other big-name rapper, where violence, misogyny and sexual aggression are celebrated. Too many urban black youth believe that respect and status are obtained only with a gun. (By contrast, there are other visible minority groups -- Sikhs, Koreans, Chinese -- that also face poverty and racism, yet for whom status is measured by, say, education and family unity." And I continue my fight to stop the big market music industry from destroying the world.

If we don't change our direction we're likely to end up where we're headed
You have to hate the headlines the The Sun Post uses here in Miami. "It’s OK to Come Out Now, Locals: Urban Beach Week Has Come and Gone With Fewer Incidents"
Alabama Governor Signs Slavery Apology. President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863. and Alabama apologizes now for slavery. I guess it is a step in the right direction. Now one quarter of Alabama's Legislature is black, so that is a long way from 1863.
Every day for the next few days I'm going to put up another part of several part series of Jordan Maxwell's called "Who Controls the World?" Here is part one.
I really think he is fascinating to listen to and has a lot of points about religion and politics which may not exactly be a direct link to racism, but plays its part. Over all it is really interesting material and I recommend it.
I originally heard about Jordan Maxwell from Immortal Technique, and a few days ago I put up a posting with clips of both. Today I will put up a few more of Immortal Techniques videos I found on YouTube which I think relate to Epidermic. Whether you like hip hop or even Immortal Technique or not, I urge you to listen to the lyrics and see what they mean to you.

A few things I dug up for you today.
Burger bar boss Chris Brown is being investigated by police for driving around in his Land Rover with a gollywog fixed to the front bumper.

I found this video on YouTube, and I was blown away by it. It is so amazing.
This is a fascinating interview with Khalid Muhammad. It is so interesting to watch this point of view.
In Calgary Canada, there has been an ongoing problem of racism in the bars and clubs. This award winning investigative journalism piece split the issue wide open. It is a very popular clip on YouTube and ebedding has been disabled for the piece, but I highly recommend following this link and watching this footage for yourself. They show bouncers sending away black people saying "sorry its 25 and older tonight," then letting in 18 year old white kids. They do it club after club and bar after bar. It is surreal.
This is a followup second part to the piece.

Racism, its hiding in plain sight.
How do you deal with racism in your own family? I don't know if the advice given here by this columnist is the best advice, but and interesting dilemma. You want to have the older generation be apart of their life, but their prejudices get in the way. I think I would openly, but rationally demonize the statements that grandma says so the kids know what is right, and grandma can learn or rather unlearn her old ways. I believe everyone has a potential to unlearn their hatred. The thing about racism is there are gray areas with it. It isn't like you are are either KKK or the most PC person on earth, some people just have negative stereotypes in their mind which make them somewhat racist, but that doesn't mean they are burning crosses. I think these are the people who can learn most from things like this blog. It is important to talk openly about these things and not just push them under the rug to fester.
I think I've been to this place in a nightmare. A story about the Crossroads of the West Gun Show from the San Diego City Beat.
Statistics are statistics. Cops are still racist. Here is a commentary about that report that was put out recently investigating how police dealt with race.
This is an article from 2005, but it is about these kill whitey parties in Williamsburg Brooklyn where white kids try to "kill the whiteness inside." "What that means, precisely, is debatable, but it has something to do with young white hipsters believing they can shed white privilege by parodying the black hip-hop life. In this way, they hope to escape their uptight conditioning and get in touch with the looser soul within them." This relates to yesterdays post in some ways. These people are acting out what they perceive black culture to be, but the problem with that is, their perception is not very flattering. "His street fliers come emblazoned with the words "Kill Whitie" across a woman's backside. Another flier offers free admission to anyone with a bucket of fried chicken."

Rap VS Hip Hop
Yes I love hip hop. No I do not like rap. No I never owned a 2 pac or a Biggie album, and no I never will. No I do not think they are among be best mcs of all time like so many do, not even close. I want to use todays Epidermic post to give my point of view on a controversial subject in the hip hop community, and I know there will be those who hate my opinion or dislike it or not believe in what I say. Just read it is all I can ask.
It is my belief that hip hop was not born to misogyny, violence, drugs and guns, but somehow the image in this day in age for hip hop music is a violet culture. It is my belief that the music marketing machine in this country has been only mass marketing a form of this music which demonizes black culture. The primarily white american music machine objective is to paint the portrait of black America as a gun touting, drug dealing, woman hating, violent demographic. The music that is played on your airwaves in you car radio represent a small over paid faction of a huge industry that makes some of the most peaceful and thought provoking music on the planet. Yet MTV and your radio play "artists" who made it selling drugs and guns, demeaning women by selling records with women shaking asses, is all that is visible. It works and it isn't just white america that is buying it. I believe it sets subconscious precedent in the minds of many poor people (black, white, latino you name it) that the only way out of poverty is drug sales, violence, sports, beauty, and rap. People have lost faith in the educational system, because it is bound to fail. Other problems destroy its potential. If the only food that can be afforded by the impoverished leaves them either malnourished, or over weight, how are they to concentrate? If the government subsidized housing is flooded with drugs, guns, and lawlessness, how is one not to be distracted? Among minorities there is a common social disease that achieving in school, is "acting white," and by doing that it is self loathing of ones own cultural heritage. Of course that is completely unhealthy and self destructive. Education is a powerful tool, and it is not inherently white or male. So my point is I don't believe that somehow 2pac was somehow a self hating racist, of course not, but he was a pawn in an industry that allows black america to be demonized. I know I know you think its a stretch. Fine. Turn on your radio, turn on MTV, turn on BET, watch some videos, and see what I'm talking about come to life. Watch one Yin Yang twins video and compare its message with any KRS One song. See what is missing? Remember "You Must Learn?" See how that has morphed into "Get Rich or Die Trying?" I wouldn't want 50cent to be my child's role model. I wouldn't want my daughter to respect Snoop Dogg. I don't want my youth influenced by Rick Ross. I don't want Mike Jones as my childrens hero. (I have no children let me make that clear) The industry claims that these albums are made and sold because people want them, and they wont mass market what they wont sell, but in an industry where popularity is manufactured by the huge amount of marketing dollars pumped into radio play and video play and massive concert tours, people pretty much buy what they are told. Hell half of the major release records have national tours aligned before the records hit the stores, so how do you explain that? For years the largest demographic of buyers of this music were teenagers who were given their parents expendable income. That means fourteen and fifteen year olds were deciding what is appropriate for them to listen to. I wouldn't let a young teenager make misinformed decisions about anything that matters, but people just think "what ever its just harmless music." Now their children's roll models are misogynists, homophobic, drug dealers. So no i never liked 2pac, and no I never really liked Biggie. I respect what they were able to do to make hip hop "cross over", but at what cost. Here we are in a world that views hip hop as a violent culture. Millions of hip hop records are produced every year, most of which find small fan bases among those who truly love the art form, but the larger rap market sells you a fundamentally racist ideology that black people are evil. So now when you see a black teenager on the street with baggy cloths and a hat to the side, you see the violent drug dealing picture that has been painted for this youth on the screen. That is what allows police to profile minority youth at a higher rate and enslave them in captivity in prisons. That is what has then caused self perpetuated belief that this is the only answer for impoverished minority youths. Don't let your children learn about life from a pop star.
I don't know if Mr. Lif would agree to this statement that I have just made, but I would like to share these videos of his which show another side of hip hop. This more readily reflects the majority of hip hop that is actually created on a daily basis. Why Lif? why not? I could have chose anyone, but I am going with Lif. So, here are two songs.
I chose this song, "Brothaz" remixed by Willie Evens Jr. because this sample: "Down here in the ghetto we know the horror of the guns. We wear the scars of violence on turning your guns."
consequence: Homicide is the leading cause of death among african american youth.
And this one for this hip hop quotable: "The purpose of our life is just to serve the economy, they misinform our minds to paint a picture of harmony"
Okay, your reaction might be yea right. That is fine, but keep this in the back of your mind next time you watch pop culture rap music videos, and when you buy their albums remember what it could be representing in the bigger picture.

clip needs no introduction
If you have never seen or heard of this movie you are living under a rock so big I don't konw if it can be moved.
I think Spike had put this part into the movie, because the racial tensions were getting so high in the film at that point, it sets you up for the explosive ending.

If you know me you would know it was only a matter of time until I posted some Jordan Maxwell footage on Epidermic. I know a lot of people write him off as a quack or that he is boring and long winded, but love him or leave him he makes a powerful connections. He contends that the Illuminati and the Free Masons were and are intricately involved in the creation of this and many other governments. Remember the Third Reich's platform of the New World Order, why is that written on the back of the dollar bill?

If you look at the symbols of most religious and governmental institutions the evidence is right there. All of this you can be linked back to intensely racist and oppressive ideology which this country was founded on and continues to perpetuate. Occult emblems and words infiltrate our every move. Institutionalized racism exist do you think it doesn't? I urge you to look at these videos of Jordan Maxwell, and when you start to see what I mean I want you find more videos of his. Look into his research if you don't find it to be true then let me know. Ancient Belief systems permeate or religions and governments and oppress us.
I'm sorry to my friends who are religious, because I know that this can be destructive to your belief systems and I hope you can not take offense, but rather engage me and your peers in intelligible conversation. You can keep your faith if you want to, but the information that exists proves that religion is little more than an institutionalized system of sedation and oppression based on ancient philosophies that have been morphed into modern day religion.
I have love all people unconditionally, even they who might smite or kill me. Reverence for life.

I discovered this show on youtube and like it.
I just found this clip on youtube and thought it was kind of interesting. Not that I think it is racist or anything, but and interesting phenomenon.
I had no idea Christmas had anything to do with religion, nuff said. If Christmas is perceived as "American" in China, does it surprise anyone that the rest of the world perceives America as a Christian nation?
Dating in China---> leave it up to fate.

Phobia
Europe's battle with a recent rise in Islamophobia, xenophobia, and racism are highlighted in this article. "The ECRI also said discrimination against Roma, black people and Jews was a serious problem in Europe and had increased in some places over the past few years."

I don't really get the point of O'Reily's show. He invites guests on, makes outrageous statements and doesn't give the guests a chance to respond. I mean does he just invite them on so he can tell them what he thinks or does he actually want to hear their perspective? I don't think he really cares, I think he just wants to make his xenophobic remarks about Muslims and immigrants, and anyone who isn't a white right wing male. What does he aim to do by just repeating over and over, "75 percent of the world violence comes from the muslim world" in this clip?
Articulate is a codeword and the inference often is this: 'Wow you're black and can speak standard English, and skillfully? Omigoch!' "Articulate' is our generation's euphemistic equivalent to 'Aren't you the little credit to your race'."
I guess Bush and O'Reily never saw the Chris Rock bit about Colin Powell being articulate. "He speaks so well" As if it were some kind of surprise, that he would be because he is black.
This is a nice piece with Mos Def reading a speech from Malcolm X
As long as we are on the page with Mos I'll post this song and video him and Immortal Technique.
And as long as we are on the page with Immortal Technique here he is bringing some serious thoughts to the table.
If you liked what you heard here, I strongly urge you to look deeper into Immortal's music, if you are not already familiar.

The Asian American Experience
I'm going to limit this post to just this one article I found on CNN because I really want you to read it. It is a series of writings sent into CNN by Asian Americans who tell it like it is.
Here is one clip as a teaser: "Conan Hom from Lexington, Massachusetts (writes in)
I was born here, and I speak only English, and yet many expect me to know an Asian language. In fact I am often asked, "Where am I from? Or what am I?" When I answer U.S. (or American), I [am] told, "No really, tell me." Yet a person who's last name is Schmidt in the U.S. isn't expected to speak German? If I am asked what am I and I do say Chinese or Filipino, it's more construed to be where I was born. When someone says, "I'm Irish" we don't assume that person is born in Ireland most of the time."

Perpetuation of negative stereotypes
(This article has since been removed from the site, but not before I could quote it. Please read! It might have been removed because my letter to the editor or maybe it was in their own good conscience.)
Miami's weekly alternative NEW TIMES ran this article about Miami's annual "Black Beach" hip hop memorial day weekend and Sizzle. Just look at how this opening paragraph reads:
"Who says Memorial Day weekend in Miami has to be all about swaggering thugs? South Beach will transform into a gangsta’s paradise this weekend, complete with aspiring ballers leaning on every available inch of wall space along Washington Avenue, and thong-clad hoochies strutting down Collins Avenue. But the macho guys better make way. This weekend also belongs to Sizzle Miami, the biggest black gay event in the country."
I am so sick of this kind of language being thrown around. Why is it that every time black people are discussed in the media adjectives like thug, hoochies, and gangsta's are used? This is a horrible negative racial stereotype that while might be embraced by a select few, I don't think would be widely accepted by most of the black people who flock to Miami every year for this holiday weekend of fun and music in the sun. Then the article goes on to imply that somehow gay men can't be macho or that being macho is the opposite of being gay. Why don't you just call them fags while your at it? Don't you see how prejudicial all this language is? Shame on you for printing such vial mess. I guess you didn't say it is nappy headed hoe weekend, but you might as well have. Sorry to have to call you out, but it offends me.
For what it is worth I wrote this as a letter to the editor.

When children are taught to hate like this it scares the hell out me. This is a form of child abuse and there is no excuse for it no matter the culture, religion, or race.

I wish there were stronger laws protecting people from racist behavior
More on that story of the racial tensions in Jena Louisiana. See people might live in a metropolitan city and have a diverse group of friends, and think racism is a non-issue anymore. I contend all you have to do is take one little trip to some small town in the south and you will change your thinking. Just read this story, it is like it is from another time. This is a town which is virtually completely segregated, (15% black 85% white) where black people complain they can't get jobs or housing because of the color of their skin, and when black kids sit under the "white tree" in the school yard the next day the white kids hang nooses in the tree. Then when black kids act violently toward white kids getting in a little fight they get charged with conspiracy to commit murder. It is a clear case of systematic racism in its purest form. This story didn't take place 30 years ago, it happened this year. This effects everyone. If you don't have a diverse group of friends you probably hear crazy things all the time like white people saying the 'n'word when they are only in the company of other white people, or black people saying "man I can't stand all these crackers" when in the company of only black friends. Even things like making a decision not to live in an area because demographically it doesn't reflect your skin color is pretty racist. I have always lived in large urban areas and hear crazy things all the time so it doesn't surprise me when I hear stories like this in some small town in the south, but it does sadden me.
Racism at the US border. Canada and its Indian Act are highlighted in this story
Kansas City's racist ex representative Ralph Arza was sentenced to 18 months probation, 150 hours of community service, anger management classes, and probably best of all, he cannot hold public office while on probation. Yes score one for the good guys.
Racism in Atlanta, where volunteers at Hands On Network (works to build better communities through volunteerism) were threatened in a racist letter.
Racism in Garland Texas, where Indian Christian preacher Kashmir Masih woke up to find swastikas and go to hell spray painted on his home and car. Hate crime.

Three timing god, Its a little comedy bit about god
Its a simple look at the conflict that is religious cultural and racial. "What kind of crazy whore is this god?"
This just in, the world is still racist as ever it seems
I want to start today's posts off with an article from a local paper here in Miami which talks about "Black Beach" the big hip hop party weekend here in Miami every Memorial Day weekend. No one can forget that last year everyone was up in arms that there were sooooo many arrests during this event last year that everyone contended it could have been nothing but racist cops. Racist cops the south? Nooooo! Let us see how they do this year.
The British show Big Brother received a lot of attention for a few racist remarks made about an Indian contestant, view more in this article Such things were said:
-- Contestant Jade Goody calling Shetty "Shilpa Poppadom"
-- Contestant Danielle Lloyd saying Shetty should "F*** off home"
-- An argument over Shetty cooking a chicken which ended with derogatory remarks about Indian eating habits.

Channel Four Chief Executive Andy Duncan said: "We accept Ofcom's judgment that on the occasions in question we did not ensure that Big Brother intervened with the necessary promptness or strength."
This article tells about one comedian getting some attention lately who "dressed in drag and wearing blackface, and began talking in stereotypical black dialect - using words like "how you durrin," "ignunt" and "chirrun."" The article goes on to ask: why when black people make fun of black people or white people there is no discrepancy, but when a white person makes fun of a black person the whole world goes up in arms, why is that? I think most people could tell why, but a lot of people still wonder why. This isn't the first time I heard that question. Carlos Mencea just recently did a bit on his show about every time white people make a joke about non whites people are so quick to scream racism. He then contends that the reason he and Dave Chappelle are so popular on comedy central is because white people tune in to hear the kind of jokes that they think are funny, but can't say. Interesting debate topic, but no matter what your argument "black face" makeup isn't funny.
Do you think this is comedy or racism?
Rolling Stone did a feature on him as comedian who brings droves of protesters to every show who shout "black face isn't funny."
Check out this article about bloggers who combat racism. If you like Epidermic you might also like some of the blogs featured in this article. There is one that just flags racism on Craig's list.

He was harassed for years with racial slurs as well as physical abuse. Despite that he stuck it out for more than 20 years to prove he could be a great fire fighter. He was recently honored for his courage by the Los Angeles-based association of African-American firefighters.

Read this article about the institutionalized racism against the Aborigines in Australia leading to a life expectancy 17 years less than their white Australian
This is a feature on Lani Silver, who has spent decades interviewing people about racism and holocaust.“The question is, ‘Why are we killing each other?’ ” she said. “Why did 150 million people die in war and genocide in the last century?”
This article is about discrimination in the UK. The Joint Committee on Human Rights says about a biometric immigration document that is being introduced for all non-EU nationals in the UK "The fact that such a document exists for non-nationals and can be requested to prove entitlement to services makes it highly likely in our view that members of black and minority ethnic communities in the UK will be disproportionately required to prove their immigration status."
Bank of America accused of racial discrimination in this article"The complaint alleges BofA and BAI regularly discriminated against African-American bankers and financial advisers, teaming them with other African-American bankers or advisers and steering more lucrative clients to white employees."
Its kind of hard...nearly impossible, for me to live my life and pretend like these things never happened,so I know everyone else probably feels the same. We are never going to get past it if we just ignore it and don't talk about it.
"I heard one of the girls say she would quit as soon as we hire a negro, and for your information she happens to be one of the most popular girls in the office. If she quits it could make an exodus that will make the one out of Egypt look like a quiet afternoon."

Saturday round up
It should surprise me,that there are so many articles every day about instances of racism, but somehow it doesn't. I'm blown away by what I read, but surprised I am not. In fact, that is the very reason I collect all these and put them here on this site. My premise is that there is so much bigotry left in the world that I'm amazed when people tell me racism is gone or that it is a non issue anymore. This is proof, its out there, and everyone has to do their part in ending it.

what is a racist?
racism: noun The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on such a belief.
Many people think being racist is a person who kills and beats and hurts people because of their race. That is true but it is more than that. Thinking someone is a bad driver because they are Asian is racist. Thinking someone likes chicken because they are black is racist. Thinking someone is an illegal migrant worker because they speak spanish is racist. Thinking someone is a cop or rich because they are white is racist. Making any assumptions about an individual based on racial and cultural stereotypes is racist. You might be racist and not even realize it. Just because you are not a part of some radical separatist group doesn't mean you can't have racist ideals and thoughts. Neither of which is healthy, and they harbor as well as create hate.
This article examines the word racism and argues its meaning is expanding."So maybe what is going on is that the term racist has expanded to describe an attitude, one which makes judgments about one belief being better than another, which is not racisms original meaning." It even goes into a little Christian philosophy and quotes a Chinese philosopher to make its point.
As in this article it can be seen that an attitude toward a group of people can be, or at least be interpreted as, racist.
At Harvard University, the police were called on an annual Association of Black Harvard Women, and Black Men’s Forum event. A string of emails were sent out questioning if the group belonged on campus which instigated the call to the police. view article it

Here is a quick one, Hello in Indian.
If you liked that, this is a longer one.
"You can run from us now, but sooner or later we're going to hump you." Ha

Race in the news - May 13
American-Indian women get treated unequally in the department of justice, one report states.
A book review examines whether or not the SOLE black justice on the Supreme Court, Clarence Thomas, uses skin color a character definition of those seeking appeals.
In Tahlequah, American-Indian graduate students told to leave their culture at home.
A new study found that skin color still affects access to housing.
A scholarly debate about biological vs. socially contrusted race. Many say that we are all one race: the human race (biologically speaking), yet the various classifications, and therefore marginalizations, are concocted through power.

Hannity & Colmes- they love to corner their guests and ask them to put their principals on the table, and don't even listen to the counter points that their guests offer.
Hanity & Colmes with guest Hashim Nzinga from the New Black Panther Party
Hanity & Colmes with guest Halik Zulu Shabazz with the New Black Panther Party. Also starts with an interesting clip of Louis Farrakhan.
Why bring this up or even discuss this if all the facts are not there. It just leaves it up to question, when it might very well be the case, but might just as likely if not more probable that it isn't. So, why put that doubt in the viewers?
Look at this view of what fox is doing.

This article talks about the how Madrid is dealing with racism in the sport of Football (soccer).
What I think is interesting to note about this article is that in this case, the words had more power than the kids really realized. I relate this to the debate about the "N" word because this shows another example the power that words can have over people. If children are not taught the magnitude in which words can impact an individual, you have cases like this where a child's naivety becomes bigotry.
Colbert Report kills it in Korean. It isn't that its racist or anything, but this piece plays off cutural stereotypes. So how much of this is healthy in comedy? Does comedy ease our racial tension, and heal us, or does it perpetuate problems by highlighting differences?
By the way on an unrelated subject, I think Comedy central's Mother load is the greatest thing ever created. I think it is the future of TV. As internet speeds increase and bandwidth is increased and the end user technology is improved TV and the internet will merge just like this. TV cable netflix video stores all will be a thing of the past. Cheers to the future.

Prison or neo-slavery?
Prison or legal racism? that is the big question. Check out this article which states: "If a white person is murdered, whether the defendants are Black or white, they are at least five times more likely to be given the death penalty than if a Black person is murdered." and "Only 14 white people have ever been executed for the murder of a Black person, while 215 Black people have been executed for killing whites." Facts are facts jack, the stats prove it, the American Prison system is systematically racist, that is why I don't believe in the "justice" system. Great article if you read nothing else to day read this!
At least the government is starting to recognize how the prison system is clearly a racist governmental device. It seems like a neo-slavery system designed for exploitation. Check out thisarticle.
"The Racial Justice Act was quickly approved with few questions and now goes to the full House."
This article is interesting, because few people actually know this, but "The thirteenth amendment reads (very clearly) that slavery shall not be imposed except in those instances when a person has been convicted of a crime."

This article talks about a bill which "now targets the larger issue of the disproportionate number of minority inmates who face death penalty prosecutions and who end up on death row".

Many universities stopped using race and gender as criteria for accepting students, but the USA TODAY asks whether or not college admission boards today seek diverse students post-affirmative action.
African-American women are 50 percent more likely to die from breast cancer, than their white counterparts are. A Chicago news station reports one reason: diagnosis and treatment may be linked to racial and economical disparities.
A new study reveals gaps between what white people pay for car loans, and what minorities pay.
Crappy footage, but great interview with KRS-ONE on Fox
NPR ran this radio piece with actor comedian Paul Mooney, and hip hop legend KRS-ONE discussing the N-Word.
An article from kansas.com asks the question "A couple of new studies about race and gender bias have me thinking about an age-old question: Is it possible to think in a racist way without being consciously racist?"
The Daily Express ran an article about all white schools in England making efforts to combat racism by “community cohesion.”
This article about allegations of racism at North Myrtle Beach City Council.
Article about Oregon School Activities Association on Monday voted unanimously to form a committee to review policies and educational programs on discrimination and sportsmanship in high school athletics.
List of ill-fated voyages from Haiti to Florida. Showcased because it is important to note that the US policy for people who are found landing on US soil from the poorest and most violent nation in the western hemisphere are sent back. Yet those who arrive from Haiti's neighboring Communist Cuba are accepted with open arms. In the mean time hundreds die trying.

In the News
Yet another story about police using excessive force on black males. Punishment for the officers:"Police Chief Jack Beaton quickly suspended the two officers - one with two years of experience, the other with nine months - with pay after viewing the tape Thursday."
Miami Herald ran this story about Barack Obama seeking protection from the secret service because he is black. While the article looks at the idea among some black Americans that he is not black enough for the job, it points out he has sought protection from the people who think he is "too dark for the job."
A first-person perspective of life on a Native American reservation in North Dakota. The author exposes the harsh realities of the effects of institutionalized racism - including unemployment, drugs/alcohol abuse, extreme poverty - of which effects each and every resident.
Kids (and adults alike) may learn racist, homophobic phrases while playing video games, Halo 3 now comes complete with characters who say the slurs -- all at the press of a controller button.
This is kind of an older clip but it is interesting and emotional.

Today's race in the news
It is now known that Barack Obama has personally received racist threats, but it appears that he is being attacked because of his race in other ways as well. CBS News has decided to disable all email comment forms about Obama because there have been so many racist remarks left by those who do not want him in office because of his skin color.
Similarly, a parody about Barack Obama, in which a person portraying Al Sharpton disses the presidential hopeful because "he is not from the hood," is circulating the internet, and has Rush Limbaugh in hot water.
The Week quoted a new Justice Department study that found, "After a traffic stop, police are three times more likely to search black drivers, and two times more likely to search Hispanic drivers."

Reports show how a recent revival of ancient culture and appreciation is bringing forth throngs of Indigenous people in Mexico who claim language discrimination.
The National Urban League presented its 2007 State of Black America report, which found, among other significant notes, that Black men are more than twice as likely to be unemployed as white men and make only 75 percent as much per year.

Race in the news
Yesterday an article ran about a group of young people in one Georgia town who celebrated their FIRST ever– and I do mean FIRST –interracial prom.
Last month The Star ran an article about a family seeking an apology for a racist furniture tag.

The Washington Post’s coverage of Hispanic organizations that are up in arms over a soon-to-be-aired PBS series on WWII, as the 14-hour screening makes no reference to Latino soldiers who fought and died for the U.S.

Exploration of skin color
Interesting video created by a teenage woman who discusses the push for young African-Americans to be more European-looking.
