you don't really believe that do you? do you think that men really commit more crimes than women? do you think minorities commit more crimes than whites? I think it is the racism that lingers in our cultures subconscious that makes the "racial gap in crime rates" There is no way that minorities commit more crimes, it is impossible, it has to be the search arrest rates are where the racial gap exists.
Didn't say I belived it, just quoting an article about the same topic from another source.
Reason is an interesting magazine / site.
The Jerry Rivers thing was a stunt. They each took one side of a made up debate that neither one thought was real, freaked out so it would go on youtube then made a huge point to say, thats shows Fox is fair and balanced.
Wow. Those were very impacting videos. The "justice" expert was so bigoted, and it is scary to think that he stands for those who perpetuate racism. Those who do not think things are racially motivated -- when they are -- seem to be racist themselves. Why does he feel he has the right to state prejudice as fact? Because he is white, and has the PRIVILEDGE to make that ignorant assumption. Only those with the power to not notice the BS -- i.e. white males -- of "ISMs," can spread such hateful, unhelpful blanket statistics.
As for the O'Reilly video - DAMN. That screaming match brought goose bumps up and down my arms. The intensity was, well, intense; and I am happy to see that someone finally pointed out the fact that many folks in power sugarcoat the real problems by using blanket political agendas.
Racism is a social disease that has been constructed and reconstructed in this county. Many say racial divides were abolished when former President Abraham Lincoln signed his name to the Emancipation Proclamation; others say it ended with the smashing of Jim Crow laws during the Civil Rights movement in the 1960s. However, many will contend that these were only limitations on the legal aspects of racism…it still exists. Blocks – usually set by the white majority – are still attached to many jobs, home and business loans and school registrar lists. They may not be legal anymore, but it still happens. This blog is set up to point out the ways in which race still affects U.S. society. It is important to highlight race because racism is damaging to all, and often, the only way to change is to be informed. The hope here is to smash racism with the hammer called education.
